The house takes its name from the Restoration of Charles II, because he stayed here on his return from exile in 1660. But it almost deserves the name on account of the high quality of the garden ‘restoration’. The word has to appear in quotation marks for several reasons (1) because no details of the old garden were available (2) because a number of old fragments and ornaments were incorporated in the design, giving it a pleasingly ‘authentic’ character (3) because it is a typical exercise in garden restoration: a little bit of everything which it might possibly have had at some point in history. One can be sure that it never looked as it does today at any previous point in history, but this does not detract from the pleasure of visiting the garden. The ‘restoration’ was done after 1994 and includes an orchard, a vegetable plot, a mount, a parterre (using a pattern from the house doors) and a pool, based on the shape of a Queen Anne mirror, which runs through some authentic-looking gothic arches in re-used red brick. The design is a great success, despite this pastiche approach. They should have forgotten about Charles II and gone all-out on the re-creation of a Yorkist or Tudor garden. The dates for the first phases of building the house are 1454 and 1502-22.

If your bedroom furniture doesn’t offer you a respite from the hustle and bustle of the day, then now’s the time to transform it. The time and money you invest now will definitely pay off in big dividends in your future. Your bedroom redecorating project might just mean that you’ll find yourself a little happier, a bit more joyful and most importantly, at peace with yourself and your surroundings.

Decorating your master bedroom is probably more fun than decorating any other room in your home. Why? Because it’s the one room in your home where you can truly allow your personality to shine.

Begin with three easy steps.

1: Start by visualizing and listing all the types of activities you’ll want to conduct in your “get-away” haven. Perhaps it’s writing in your journal, reading, knitting, watching movies or contemplating your plans for tomorrow — whatever the activity, it’s important to think through the specific things that will make you the happiest.

2: Look at your bedroom space with a critical eye. Can your bedroom accommodate all the activities you listed?

3: As with most all decorating projects, one of your first priorities is locking in a color scheme. Color sets the stage and is truly the backdrop for all your furnishings, fabrics, accessories and lighting.

In what concerns redecorating your home, there are three simple steps you need to take to be successful. First step- the decision making. Redecorating with the help of an interior designer, or by yourself. There are pros and cons for both situations. If you decide to get help from the professionals, there are some things you need to consider. You have to pay him, but at the same time you can cut expenses in other areas. An interior designer knows what to buy and where to find quality things at very good prices. But on the other hand there are people who simply love to make all the choices and do the hard work by themselves.

Second step- redecorating to whole house, or just part of it. This is something that you have to think about after you find out how much time and money you can afford to spend on this project. Choosing the entire home project may be expensive and it will definitely take a longer period of time than, let’s say, redecorating a single room. Third step- what needs to be changed. After you have decided to go for either to whole house or for the single room project, you have to think what needs to be changed. First of all you have to repaint the walls. Fresh paint, in a fantastic color, can definitely transform the way a place looks like. Some people are afraid that fresh paint stinks, but this is no longer true, because innovations led to an almost odorless paint formula.

And painting is a crucial step you have to take for a successful redecorating project. Then there is the furniture issue. If you think it is too old, or you simply don’t like it anymore, and you have enough money, you can replace it all. But if you have to work on a low budget, then there is still a solution. You can simply rearrange it in the room, and together with the new color on the walls, you may get a totally new look. Whatever you choose to do, or have someone else do it for you the important thing is the result. And the result must be a wonderful place, where you can feel you can enjoy fantastic moments with your family, in one word a home.

These days, kids outgrow their room decoration very quickly. They tend to follow what is the latest cartoon theme or cartoon character that is showing on the TV. So, if they like a certain theme, they will pester you to decorate their room accordingly. But a few months later, they will tell you that they want to change their room decoration because their interests have changed. Here are some tips which you can use to create the bedroom that your child will love without going broke.

Don’t feel that there is a need to get it done immediately. There is no rule that say you must immediately transform your child’s bedroom in one go. You can start with removing the oldest items first and replace with some newer pieces. It is good to begin with essential items like bedspread and curtains, and then move on to other items. Introduce new items slowly, just in case your child changes his mind about his favorite cartoon character after a while.

Do it yourself. If you are quite a hands-on person, you may consider making your own decor and furnishings instead of buying. No doubt it may take some time but it will be less costly. If you know how to sew, making curtains will be simple for you. You can also make use of fabrics which are printed in the theme that your child likes to make a quilted bedspread.

Reuse and recycle. If you have an old calendar or picture book that features characters that your child currently likes, cut the pictures out and frame them up using nice and DIY craft materials to create wall hangings. For fabrics with cartoon character motifs, you can cut them out and add them to your quilted bedspread, curtains or use them in some handicrafts to decorate the room.

Don’t overspend on storage. Look for inexpensive ways to store your child’s toys, clothes and other stuff. You can find great savings in thrift stores and garage sales. The second-hand storage unit may need some repairs and repainting but they help you to save more money than if you were to spend on new ones.

Without a doubt the most satisfying and gratifying experience is when you can look at something you did on your own or in the case of remodeling or building a house, something you played an active part in creating. Even in spite of the stressful situations and keepbacks that may arise, it is truly a joy to know that you made something that both you and a family could get pleasure from.

But house remodeling can be very difficult in particular if you do not have the hard cash to employ redecorators to take the project from beginning to end. For comparatively small tasks like decorating, painting, tiling and electrical and inhouse plumbing a lot of people opt to do it themselves since these arent that technical and the normal person knows a thing or two about this part of building a house. Irregardless it is sill a very stressful event as muckups are more expensive to remedy and it can take up a lot more time.

Concerning the practical side of building a house most folks choose to exercise patience until they really can acquire the money and time for the job. This way people and time are not terribly inconvenienced and work tend to go more smoothly. However work parties comprising of friends and relatives are also a great idea, in particular as we come to the end aspects of the home since all the helpers can not only become friendlier over such a satisfying task but also find something to do. Not forgetting its a good time for all involved since this is normally done in exchange for a lovely meal or a grand time at the nearest bar after the task is finished.

In the blink of an eye and within your budget and time limit youll have a home finished with your personal touch. Once this is done all you have to do is move in and begin enjoying life in it! Building a house is one of the more difficult but satisfying things a person can do however the day you move in and sit with your family to have your first meal in your new home is the day you will definitely feel rewarded for what you have accomplished on your own.
